- The Bengali Cultural Society (BCS) has been the cultural home for Bengalis across Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and the greater Northeast Ohio region since 1972. We celebrate the richness of Bengali heritage through festivals, language, literature, music, food, and community gatherings that bring generations together. BCS is one of the oldest and largest Bengali organizations in the USA, proudly nurturing a space where tradition meets modern diaspora life.
The Bengali Cultural Society (BCS) is dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and promoting the rich heritage of Bengali culture, literature, and artistic expression within the United States. Rooted in a deep appreciation for our traditions, we strive to create a vibrant cultural presence that honors our history while welcoming the diverse communities around us.
Our mission includes fostering meaningful friendships and cultural exchange with organizations and individuals, both American and international who share an interest in cross‑cultural understanding. We believe that cultural connection strengthens communities, enriches perspectives, and builds lasting bonds.
As a gathering place for Bengalis and their friends across Northeastern Ohio, the Society provides opportunities for families to learn and experience the Bengali language, arts, customs, and values. Through educational programs, cultural events, and community activities, we aim to nurture a sense of belonging and pride among younger generations while inviting others to engage with our heritage.
The Bengali Cultural Society is a non‑profit (tax-exempt status under code 501(c) 3.) association committed to serving its members and the broader community. We uphold principles of inclusivity and integrity. The Society is strictly non‑commercial, non‑sectarian, and non‑partisan. Neither the organization’s name nor the names of its office‑bearers shall be used to advance any partisan interest unrelated to the objectives of the Society. At its heart, the Bengali Cultural Society of Cleveland exists to be a welcoming home for cultural expression, learning, and friendship – honoring our roots while embracing the shared future we build together.
